Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with routine rehabilitation training for patients with spinal cord injury. Methods:A total of 200 cases of patients with spinal cord injury were randomly divided into the control group and the study group,100 cases in each group. The control group was given routine rehabilitation training, and the study group was additionally given acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. After four- week treatment,clinical total effective rate and the incidence of thrombosis were compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment,neurological function,functional independence,and activities of daily living were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 94.00% in the study group,and 74.0% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment,when compared the scores of Functional Independence Measure (FIM) and Activity of Daily Living(ADL) between the two groups,there was no significance in the difference(P>0.05). After treatment,scores of FIM and ADL in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the two scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, when compared scores of motor function,light touch,and pinprick in National Acute Spinal Cord Injury Study(NASCIS) between the two groups, there was no significance in the difference(P>0.05). After treatment, scores of motor function, light touch,and pinprick in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the three scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). There was no occurrence of thrombosis in the study group during treatment, while the incidence of thrombosis was 32.00% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy combined with rehabilitation training in the treatment of spinal cord injury can enhance clinical effect,improve neurological function,functional independence,and activities of daily living,and reduce the incidence of thrombosis.
