Abstract： This paper introduces JIANG Ganghui's experience in treating lumbar intervertebral disc prolapse by stages using clearing， unblocking and warming methods. The staging and treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc prolapse are clarified. In terms of staging，it can be divided into acute stage，middle stage and late stage. On the principles of treatment： in the acute stage， clearing is the main method， and unblocking is the auxiliary one； middle stage， the main method is unblocking， if it is closer to the early stage， it is supplemented by clearing method， and if closer to the late stage， it is supplemented by the warming method；in the late stage，it is mainly warming，supplemented by unblocking. Among them， unblocking method is an important treatment principle throughout the whole course of treatment. In the light of treatment methods，the main treatment is clearing heat and draining dampness in the acute stage，invigorating blood and unblocking the collaterals in the middle stage，and warming yang and tonifying kidney in the late stage. The treatments are various：in the acute stage， there are collateral bloodletting and Simiao powder； in the middle stage， there are electroacupuncture， three elements single acupuncture method combined with qi-guiding method，and Shentong Zhuyu tang；late stage，there are moxibustion and Duhuo Jisheng tang.
