Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of different preparations of Taohong Siwu tang for closed distal radius fracture with early qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome. Methods： A total of 120 cases of patients with closed distal radius fracture with qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome treated conservatively were randomly divided into two groups，60 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with manipulative reduction with external fixation by splint；the traditional decoction group was additionally treated with the traditional decoction of Taohong Siwu tang；the formula granules group was additionally treated with the formula granules of Taohong Siwu tang. Both groups were treated for seven days. The wrist function in six weeks after treatment as well as the scores of pain， swelling degree and the main symptoms of qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome including pain，swelling and ecchymosis in the two groups were compared. Results： After treatment，the VAS scores of pain，the swelling degree and the scores of main symptoms of qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome including pain， swelling and ecchymosis in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment， differences being significant(P＜0.01)； after treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of VAS scores of pain，swelling degree and the scores of main symptoms of qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome including pain， swelling and ecchymosis between the two groups(P＞0.05). In six weeks after treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the superior rates of wrist function between the two groups(P＞0.05). Conclusion：The formula granules and the traditional decoction of Taohong Siwu tang have similar clinical effect in treating closed distal radius fracture with early qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome.
