Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with paroxetine hydrochloride tablets for mild and moderate depression complicated with insomnia. Methods:A total of 100 cases of patients with mild and moderate depression complicated with insomnia were divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method,50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with paroxetine hydrochloride tablets,and the study group was additionally treated with acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for six weeks. The degree of depression and sleep status before and after treatment as well as the clinical effect in the two groups were compared, and the adverse reactions in the two groups were recorded. Results: The total effective rate was 97.92% in the study group,higher than that of 85.71% in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment,the scores of Hamilton Depression Rating Scale- 17(HAMD- 17) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The scores of physical symptoms,headache and dizziness and the total score of Side Effects Rating Scale(SERS) in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture combined with paroxetine hydrochloride tablets for mild and moderate depression complicated with insomnia, which can effectively relieve the degree of depression and improve sleep status with good safety.
