Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Huatan Tongluo yin for stroke of wind-phlegm obstructing collateral type at acute stage, and its effect on lipid metabolism, lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2(Lp-PLA2),interleukin-18 (IL-18) levels. Methods:A total of 98 cases of patients with stroke were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method,49 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with routine western medicine, and the observation group was additionally treated with Huatan Tongluo yin. The clinical effect after three- week treatment was compared between the two groups. Before treatment and after three-week treatment, changes in the score of neuromotor deficit [National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)], lipid metabolism indexes [total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein(LDL)],and levels of inflammatory factors(Lp-PLA2,IL-18) in serum were observed. Results:After three-week treatment, the total clinical effective rate was 91.84% in the observation group, higher than that of 75.51% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After three-week treatment,NIHSS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). After three-week treatment, levels of TC,TG and LDL in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After three- week treatment, levels of Lp- PLA2 and IL- 18 in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:For patients with stroke of wind- phlegm obstructing collateral type at acute stage, Huatan Tongluo yin combined with modern routine therapy can help the recovery of nerve function, improvement of lipid metabolism and delay of disease progression, which can be used as an effective means of Chinese medicine in the adjuvant treatment of stroke.
