Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of self- made Qingfei tang on lung function of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) and its clinical effect. Methods:A total of 92 cases of COPD patients were selected and divided into the treatment group and the routine group according to the random number table method,46 cases in each group. The routine group was given routine treatment, including oxygen inhalation, expectorant and aerosol inhalation, and the treatment group was additionally treated with self-made Qingfei tang based on the treatment of the routine group. Both groups were treated for two weeks. The clinical effect in the two groups was compared; lung function including the percentage of forced expiratory volume in the first second to the predicted value(FEV1% ) and the percentage of forced expiratory volume in the first second to forced vital capacity(FEV1/FVC) as well as the blood gas analysis related indexes including arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure(PaCO2) and arterial oxygen partial pressure(PaO2) before and after treatment in the two groups were observed. Chinese medicine syndrome scores before and after treatment and the incidence of adverse reactions after treatment in the two groups were compared. Results:The total effective rate was 93.48% in the treatment group and 80.43% in the routine group, there being no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of FEV1% and FEV1/FVC in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.01), and the levels in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.01). After treatment, PaCO2 levels in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and PaO2 levels were increased;PaCO2 in the treatment group was lower than that in the routine group, and PaO2 was higher, differences being significant(P<0.01). After treatment,Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01), and the score in the treatment group was lower than that in the routine group(P< 0.01). During treatment, vital signs of patients in the two groups were stable and no adverse drug reactions or allergic reactions occurred. Conclusion:Self-made Qingfei tang can improve the lung function of COPD patients and alleviate clinical symptoms with high medication safety.
