Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of governor vessel moxibustion combined with traction therapy for lumbar disc herniation. Methods:A total of 80 cases of patients with lumbar disc herniation were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method, 40 cases in each group. The control group was given traction therapy, and the observation group was given governor vessel moxibustion and traction therapy. Both groups were treated for six weeks. Clinical effect was compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment, scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA), surface electromyography signals of lumbar extensor muscles [integrated electromyography(IEMG), mean power frequency(MPF)], and levels of inflammatory factors were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment,VAS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05); JOA scores in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P< 0.05),and JOA score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment,MPF and IEGM of lumbar extensor muscles were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the above two indexes in the observation group were larger than those in the control group(P<0.05);there were no significant differences being found in the comparison of MPF and IEMG of bilateral lumbar extensor muscles in the observation group(P>0.05). After treatment, levels of leuktin- 1β(IL- 1β), tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α), thromboxane B2(TXB2) in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the three levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate was 97.50% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.00% in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of governor vessel moxibustion combined with traction therapy for lumbar disc herniation can effectively relieve pain, improve the lumbar vertebra function, strength lumbar extensor muscle, and reduce levels of inflammatory factors.
