Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of Bushen Huoxue Mingmu tang on blood glucose，vision and inflammatory factors in patients with diabetic retinopathy(DR). Methods：A total of 160 cases of DR patients were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method，80 cases in each group. The control group was treated with calcium dobesilate capsules， and the treatment group was additionally treated with Bushen Huoxue Mingmu tang based on the treatment of the control group. The changes of fasting blood glucose(FBG)， 2- hour postprandial blood glucose(P2hBG)， glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)， vision and inflammatory factors before and after treatment in the two groups were compared； the clinical effect and the incidences of adverse reactions in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 96.25% in the treatment group，higher than that of 86.25% in the control group(P＜ 0.05). After treatment， the levels of FBG， P2hBG， HbA1c， tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α)， interleukin- 1β(IL- 1β)， interleukin-23(IL-23) and the central macular thickness in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the vision was increased(P＜0.05)；the levels of FBG，P2hBG，HbA1c，TNF- α，IL- 1β，IL- 23 and the central macular thickness in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05)，and the vision was higher(P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 2.50% in the treatment group，lower than that of 11.25% in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Bushen Huoxue Mingmu tang has significant clinical effect on DR patients，which can effectively decrease their blood glucose， improve the vision， alleviate the inflammation levels and reduce the adverse reactions.
