Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Bailing capsules combined with routine western medicine for patients with chronic kidney disease and its medication safety. Methods：A total of 75 cases of patients with chronic kidney disease were selected and divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method， 38 and 37 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with routine western medicine， including hypotensive drugs， hypoglycemic agents， lipid- lowering drugs， anti- infective agents， anemia correction and acid- base balance，and the study group was additionally given the oral administration of Bailing capsules based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three months. After the treatment，the clinical effect and medication safety in the two groups were determined. Before and after treatment，the changes in the contents of serum creatinine(SCr)，blood urea nitrogen(BUN)，triglyceride(TG) and total cholesterol(TC) in the two groups were detected. During treatment，the incidences of abnormalities in blood pressure， pulse， electrocardiogram， blood routine， urine routine and stool routine were monitored；adverse reactions of medication were observed and recorded. Results：After treatment，the clinical effect in the study group was better than that in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of Chinese medicine syndrome scores between the two groups(P＞ 0.05). After treatment，Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the score in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of SCr and BUN between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the levels of SCr and BUN in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the levels of SCr and BUN in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P＜ 0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of TG and TC between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment， the levels of TG and TC in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). During treatment，there was no obvious abnormality in blood pressure，pulse，electrocardiogram，blood routine， urine routine and stool routine in the two groups；no obvious adverse reactions occurred either. Conclusion：The therapy of Bailing capsules combined with routine western medicine has a good clinical effect in treating chronic kidney disease，which can effectively relieve clinical symptoms，improve kidney function and reduce the contents of blood lipid，without obvious adverse reactions.
