Abstract： This paper introduces the experience of Prof. ZHANG Lei， a Chinese medicine master， in treating chest impediment and heart pain. Prof. ZHANG Lei thinks that the etiology and pathogenesis of chest impediment and heart pain are complicated，but the key to the disease lies in the pulse obstruction. Therefore，Prof. ZHANG Lei gives priority to dispelling pathogen and unblocking the collaterals and throughout the whole treatment when treating chest impediment and heart pain. In terms of methods， he is good at unblocking and in terms of medication， he complies with the nature of the heart， focusing on the relationship between "quickening" and "nourishing". He often uses Danshen yin as basic prescription and modifies it according to different syndromes. For patients with qi stagnation and blood stasis， he combines the basic prescription with modified Baihe tang；for patients with cold congealing and blood stasis，he combines with Yiyi Fuzi power； for patients with binding of stasis and turbidity，he combines with Gualou Xiebai Banxia tang；for patients with deficiency of qi and yin，he combines with modified Shengmai powder；and for patients with deficiency and debilitation of heart yang，he combines with modified Fuzi Lizhong tang. Good effect can be obtained and there are two cases attached as proof.
