Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Chinese herbal fumigation combined with sodium hyaluronate injection for knee osteoarthritis and its effect on knee joint function. Methods: A total of 75 cases of patients with knee osteoarthritis were selected as the study subjects, and were divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 38 and 37 cases in each group respectively. Both groups were injected with sodium hyaluronate injection into articular cavity, and the study group was additionally treated with Chinese herbal fumigation. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The clinical effects in the two groups were observed. Before treatment,at the first week of treatment, and at the fourth week of treatment, the swelling degree in the two groups was compared. Before and after treatment, Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC) scores in the two groups were compared. Before treatment and after four-week treatment, the levels of plasma D-dimer,serum C-reactive protein(CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) in the two groups were compared. Results:The total effective rate was 97.37% in the study group and 86.49% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After one and four weeks of treatment respectively, swelling degrees in the two groups were lower than those before treatment;the swelling degree in the study group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). After four-week treatment, the scores of the degree of pain, stiffness and joint dysfunction as well as the total scores in the groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the above four scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). After four-week treatment, the values of D-dimer,CRP and ESR in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the values of the above three indexes in the study group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: Chinese herbal fumigation combined with sodium hyaluronate injection has a good curative effect in treating knee osteoarthritis, which can relieve the pain and stiffness of knee joints and improve knee joint function.
