Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of internal and external application of modified Xiaoyao powder combined with press- needle at auricular points for chloasma with liver qi depression syndrome. Methods ： A total of 140 cases of patients with chloasma with liver qi depression syndrome were divided into group A and group B according to the random number table method， 70 cases in each group. Group A was given internal and external application of modified Xiaoyao powder combined with press-needle at auricular points，and group B was treated with vitamin C and E. Both groups were treated for 12 weeks. The symptom scores before and after treatment and the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 95.71% in group A，higher than that of 78.57% in group B(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of lesion area and lesion color as well as the total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the scores of lesion area and lesion color as well as the total scores in group A were lower than those in group B(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Internal and external application of modified Xiaoyao powder combined with press- needle at auricular points has good curative effect for chloasma with liver qi depression syndrome，and can effectively improve clinical symptoms.
