Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of auricular point pressing with beans combined with modified Wenyang Runchang tang for diabetes complicated with constipation. Methods：A total of 100 cases of patients with diabetes complicated with constipation were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group， 50 cases in each group. Both groups were given hypoglycemic treatment in western medicine；the control group was additionally treated with lactulose， and the observation group was additionally given auricular point pressing with beans combined with modified Wenyang Runchang tang based on hypoglycemic treatment in western medicine. Both groups were treated for eight weeks. The indexes of blood glucose，the frequency of defecation in a week and the symptom scores of constipation before and after treatment， as well as the first defecation time and the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results： After treatment， the levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG) and postprandial 2 h blood glucose(P2hBG) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the levels of FBG and P2hBG in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the first defecation time in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group(P＜0.05)，the frequency of defecation in a week in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment，and the number of defecation in a week in the observation group was more than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， scores of the defecation interval， defecation speed， defecation characteristics and defecation difficulty in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜ 0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 92.00% in the observation group，higher than that of 70.00% in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Auricular point pressing with beans combined with modified Wenyang Runchang tang has good curative effect in treating diabetes complicated with constipation，and can effectively control blood glucose and improve the symptom of constipation.
