Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of modified Sangbaipi tang combined with routine western medicine for senile patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods:A total of 200 cases of senile patients with COPD were retrospectively selected as research objects, and divided into the observation group and the control group according to different treatment methods, with 100 cases in each group. The control group was given routine western medicine symptomatic treatment, and the observation group was additionally treated with modified Sangbaipi tang based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects, St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ) scores and inflammatory indexes were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 100% in the observation group, higher than that of 96.0% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of respiratory symptoms, activity, disease impact and the total scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, respiratory symptoms, activity, disease impact and the total scores in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of C- reactive protein(CRP), procalcitonin (PCT) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of CRP, PCT and ESR in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the above levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of modified Sangbaipi tang combined with routine western medicine has a satisfactory curative effect in treating senile patients with COPD,which can reduce the levels of inflammatory factors and improve respiratory symptoms.
