Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Shensong Yangxin capsules combined with spironolactone capsules for chronic heart failure(CHF) in the senile and its effect on exercise endurance and inflammatory factors. Methods： A total of 90 cases of senile CHF patients were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 45 cases in each group. The control group was additionally treated with spironolactone capsules based on routine treatment， and the treatment group was additionally treated with Shensong Yangxin capsules based on the treatment of the control group. After two-month treatment，the clinical effects，the Chinese medicine syndrome scores，the levels of serum inflammatory factors including high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)， interleukin- 6(IL- 6) and tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α)， and the exercise endurance in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 95.56% in the treatment group and 71.11% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of Chinese medicine syndrome scores between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of hs- CRP， IL- 6 and TNF- α in serum between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the levels of hs-CRP，IL-6 and TNF-α in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of 6-minute walking distances between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the 6-minute walking distances in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the 6-minute walking distance in the treatment group was longer than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Shensong Yangxin capsules combined with spironolactone capsules for senile CHF can effectively improve clinical effect，relieve inflammatory responses and enhance exercise endurance.
