Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Fuming capsules combined with mecobalamine for diabetic retinopathy and its effect on blood glucose，acuity and inflammatory factors. Methods：A total of 80 cases of patients with diabetic retinopathy were given a retrospective analysis on their clinical data， and divided into the control group and the observation group according to their treatment methods， with 40 cases in each group. Both groups were given routine treatment including reducing blood glucose，lowering blood pressure，regulating lipid，diabetic diet and exercise guidance； the control group was given oral administration of mecobalamine tablets，and the observation group was additionally treated with Fuming capsules based on the treatment of the control group. The blood glucose，acuity，levels of inflammatory factors and Chinese medicine symptom scores before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 92.50% in the observation group，higher than that of 72.50% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG)，postprandial 2h blood glucose(P2hBG) and glycated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of interleukin-1β(IL-1β)，intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1)， tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and the levels of IL- 1β、ICAM- 1， TNF- α and VEGF in serum in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the Chinese medicine symptom scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and the Chinese medicine symptom scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Fuming capsules combined with mecobalamine for diabetic retinopathy can effectively reduce inflammatory responses，and improve acuity and curative observation.
