Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Wenbu Pishen tang combined with western medicine on chronic glomerulonephritis. Methods：A total of 68 patients with chronic glomerulonephritis were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，with 34 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine such as losartan and captopril，and the observation group was additionally given an oral administration of Wenbu Pishen tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three months. The Chinese medicine syndrome scores and levels of glomerular filtration rate， 24 h urine protein， serum creatinine and urea nitrogen before and after treatment and clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 88.24% in the observation group， higher than that of 55.88% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of glomerular filtration rate，24 h urine protein，serum creatinine and urea nitrogen in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and the above levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Wenbu Pishen tang combined with western medicine for chronic glomerulonephritis can better improve patients' kidney function，clinical symptoms，and therapeutic effects.
