Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Guajindeng tang on chronic pharyngitis with syndrome of depressed liver qi transforming into fire. Methods: A total of 135 patients with chronic pharyngitis with type of depressed liver qi transfoming in fire were selected and divided into the Guajindeng group, the budesonide group and the Lanqin oral liquid group according to the random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The Guagjindeng tang group was treated with Guajindeng tang, the budesonide group was treated with aerosol therapy of budesonid, and the Lanqin oral liquid group was treated with Lanqin oral liquid. Three groups were treated for two weeks and followed up for three months. Before and after treatment, the symptom scores, clinical effects and recurrence rates within three months of follow-up in the three groups were compared. Results: After two weeks of treatment, the symptom scores in the three groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);the comparisons of symptom scores in the three groups showed significant difference(P<0.05);the symptom score in the Guajindeng tang group was lower than that in the Lanqin oral liquid group and the budesonide group respectively(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of symptom scores between the budesonide group and the Lanqin oral liquid group(P>0.05). During three months of follow-up,the recurrence rates in the budesonide group was higher than that in the Guajindeng tang group(P<0.05). After three months of follow-up,the total effective rate in the Guajindeng tang group was higher than that in the budesonide group and the Lanqin oral liquid group respectively(P<0.05), and there were no significant differences being found in the comparison of total effective rates between the the budesonide group and the Lanqin oral liquid group(P>0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of Guajindeng tang can improve the clinical symptoms of patients with chronic pharyngitis and reduce the recurrence rate of chronic pharyngitis.
