Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of thermal moxibustion combined with point application on the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Methods：A total of 84 patients with allergic rhinitis were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，with 42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with traditional non-sensitive point application，and the observation group was with thermal moxibustion combined with point application. The clinical effects in the two groups were compared，and nasal symptom scores and levels of Th1/Th2 cytokine profile，serum eosinophil cationic protein(ECP) and human specific immunoglobulin E(sIgE) were detected. Results：The total effective rate was 88.10% in the observation group and 66.67% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of nasal congestion，nasal itching，runny nose and sneezing in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the levels of interferon- γ(IFN- γ) and interleukin- 2(IL- 2) in both groups were increased， and the levels of interleukin- 4(IL- 4) and interleukin- 13(IL- 13) were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of IFN-γ and IL-2 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group，and the levels of IL-4 and IL-13 were lower(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of serum sIgE and ECP in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the levels of serum sIgE and ECP in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of thermal moxibustion combined with point application can regulate the expression of Th1/Th2 cytokine profile in patients with allergic rhinitis，reduce the levels of serum sIgE and ECP，and help to improve the clinical symptoms and prognosis of patients.
