Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of the therapy of acupuncture combined with modified Duhuo Jisheng tang on degree of pain and serum inflammatory factors in patients with discogenic lumbar disc herniation. Methods: A total of 130 cases of patients with discogenic lumbar disc herniation were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 65 cases in each group. The control group was treated with celecoxib capsules, and the observation group was additionally treated with acupuncture combined with modified Duhuo Jisheng tang based on the treatment of the control group. The Chinese medicine syndrome scores and levels of serum inflammatory factors before and after treatment and the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results: The total effective rate was 93.85% in the observation group, higher than that of 76.92% in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the Chinese medicine syndrome scores and total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);after treatment, the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of interleukin- 6(IL- 6), tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) and high- sensitivity C- reactive protein(hs- CRP) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);after treatment, the above levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The curative effect of the therapy of acupuncture combined with modified Duhuo Jisheng tang and celecoxib on patients with discogenic lumbar disc herniation is better than that of simple celecoxib, which can significantly improve the Chinese medicine syndromes such as low back pain and may be related to reducing the serum inflammatory factors.
