Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of tuina and point- pressing for dysmenorrhea and its effect on negative emotions of patients. Methods: A total of 385 cases of patients with dysmenorrhea were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number method, with 193 and 192 cases in each group respectively. The observation group was treated with Chinese medicine tuina and point- pressing according to syndrome differentiation and typing, and the control group was treated with Yuanhu Zhitong tablets. The levels of pain and negative emotions before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results: The total effective rate was 95.3% in the observation group and 77.1% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Self- rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Self- rating Depression Scale(SDS) between the two groups(P>0.05); after treatment, the scores of VAS,SAS and SDS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). In one-year follow- up after treatment, the recurrence rate was 2.72% in the observation group and 20.27% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of tuina and point-pressing for dysmenorrhea can significantly reduce the pain of patients, and alleviate their depression and anxiety, whose curative effect is better than that of Yuanhu Zhitong tablets.
