Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of percutaneous kyphoplasty assisted by Bushen Jiangu tang for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF). Methods:A total of 80 OVCF patients were selected and divided into the study group and the control group according to admission sequence, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with percutaneous kyphoplasty, and the study group was additionally given oral administration of Bushen Jiangu tang based on the treatment of the control group. Clinical effects were evaluated in the two groups. Before and after treatment, bone mineral density and serum levels of osteoprotegerin(OPG) , platelet- derived growth factor(PDGF) , bone- specific alkaline phosphatase(BALP) and matrix metalloproteinase- 2(MMP- 2) were detected. Results:The total effective rate was 92.50% in the study group, higher than that of 75.00% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, bone mineral density of lumbar L2 ~ 4,femoral neck and greater trochanter in the two groups was increased when compared with that before treatment(P<0.05),and the above bone mineral density in the study group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, levels of OPG, PDGF and BALP in serum in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and levels of MMP-2 in serum were decreased(P<0.05);levels of OPG,PDGF and BALP in serum in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),and MMP-2 level was lower(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of percutaneous kyphoplasty combined with Bushen Jiangu tang has a significant curative effect in the treatment of OVCF. It can increase bone mineral density and regulate serum bone metabolism indexes.
