Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of buccal acupuncture therapy on entrapment syndrome of posterior branch of cervical nerve root in acute stage. Methods:A total of 60 patients with entrapment syndrome of posterior branch of cervical nerve root were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Tongluo Qutong ointment, and the observation group was additionally treated with buccal acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects, Chinese medicine syndrome scores, scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and neck range of motion were compared between the two groups. Results:The total clinical effective rate was 93.33% in the observation group, higher than that of 66.67% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of scores of Chinese medicine syndrome,VAS and neck range of motion between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of Chinese medicine syndrome, VAS and neck range of motion in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion:Buccal acupuncture therapy has a significant curative effect on the treament of entrapment syndrome of posterior branch of cervical nerve root in acute stage, which can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and neck range of motion, and reduce the pain of patients.
