Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of modified Zhitong Rushen tang on pain and wound healing in patients after operation for mixed hemorrhoids. Methods：A total of 87 cases of patients with mixed hemorrhoids were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 45 and 42 cases in each group respectively. The control group was operated with routine external dissection and internal ligation and given routine nursing measures after operation；the observation group was additionally treated with modified Zhitong Rushen tang based on the treatment of control group. The Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) scores on the 2nd，4th and 6th postoperative days in the two groups were compared；the disappearance time of pain and the healing time of wound，and wound edema were counted； the clinical effects were evaluated. Results：The total effective rate was 97.78% in the observation group，higher than that of 85.71% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). On the 2nd and 4th postoperative days，the VAS scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05)； on the 6th postoperative day，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of VAS scores between the two groups (P＞0.05). The disappearance time of pain and wound edema，and the healing time of wound in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Modified Zhitong Rushen tang for patients after operation for mixed hemorrhoids can relieve their pain degree， shorten the disappearance time of pain， relieve edema and promote wound healing.
