Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture and tuina combined with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children with autism and its effect on dopamine(DA) in serum. Methods:A total of 98 cases of children with autism were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 49 cases in each group. The control group was given ABA training, and the observation group was additionally treated with acupuncture and tuina based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for six months. Before and after treatment, the changes in scores of Childhood Autism Rating Scale(CARS), Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist(ATEC), Autism Behavior Checklist(ABC), Psychoeducational Profile- Third Edition(PEP- 3), Developmental Quotient(DQ), Self- rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Self- rating- Depression Scale(SDS) and DA levels in serum in the two groups were compared. Results: After treatment, the scores of CARS and ATEC scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the PEP-3 scores were increased, differences being significant(P<0.05);the scores of CARS and ATEC in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the PEP-3 score was higher, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of feeling, communication, body movement, language and selfmanagement and the total scores in ABC in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P< 0.05),and the above five scores and the total scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of adaptability, fine movements, big movements, language and personal- social ability in DQ in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, differences being significant(P<0.05);the scores of adaptability, fine movements, big movements,personal-social ability and language in DQ in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, differences being significant(P< 0.05). After treatment, the scores of SAS and SDS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores of SAS and SDS in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the DA levels in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the DA level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture and tuina combined with ABA training for children with autism can relieve the core symptoms of autism and negative emotions and improve personal-social ability.
