Abstract: Objective: To explore the characteristics of Chinese medicine syndromes of children with allergic rhinoconjunctivitis(ARC) in Guangzhou. Methods: A total of 186 children with ARC in Guangzhou were selected, including 133 cases with damp-heat with wind syndrome,40 cases with deficiency-cold of lung qi syndrome,5 cases with spleen qi weakness syndrome, 4 cases with heat accumulation in the lung meridian syndrome and 4 cases with blood deficiency generating wind syndrome. The total ocular symptom score(TOSS) and total nasal symptom score(TNSS) were used to evaluate the symptoms of children, and the Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire(RQLQ) was used to evaluate the quality of life of children. The differences of symptoms and quality of life between ARC children with different Chinese medicine syndromes were analyzed. Results:The symptom scores of children with different Chinese medicine syndromes were compared, and the significant difference was only found in the comparison of the score of runny nose(P<0.05),and the symptom of runny nose in children with heat accumulation in the lung meridian syndrome was the most obvious. There were no significant differences being found in the comparison of TNSS and TOSS between children with different Chinese medicine syndromes(P>0.05). The scores of each indicator and total scores of RQLQ of children with different Chinese medicine syndromes were compared, and the significant difference was only found in the comparison of non-nasal and nonocular symptoms(P<0.05), and the non- nasal and non- ocular symptoms in children with spleen qi weakness syndrome were the most obvious. The scores of non- nasal and non- ocular symptoms in children with different Chinese medicine syndromes were compared, and significant differences were only found in the comparisons of scores of throat itching and irritability(P<0.05),and the symptoms of throat itching and irritability in children with spleen qi weakness syndrome were the most obvious. Conclusion:There was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of symptoms and quality of life between children with ARC with different Chinese medicine syndromes. The significant differences were only found in the comparisons of the scores of symptom of runny nose and non-nasal and non-ocular symptoms, and the symptom of runny nose and non-nostril symptoms in children with spleen qi weakness syndrome were the most obvious.
