Observation on Curative Effect of Dingchuan Tang Combined with Routine Western Medicine for Cough Variant Asthma and Its Effect on ICAM- 1 and Eotaxin Levels in Serum
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Dingchuan tang combined with routine western medicine for cough variant asthma(CVA) and its effect on intercellular cell adhesion molecule- 1(ICAM- 1) and eosinophil activated chemokine Eotaxin levels in serum. Methods:A total of 76 cases of CVA patients were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 38 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with routine western medicine, and the treatment group was additionally treated with Dingchuan tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for one course, with eight weeks being one course. After one treatment course, clinical effects, the lung function indexes[forced vital capacity(FVC),the forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),the ratio of forced expiratory volume in one second to forced vital capacity(FEV1/FVC)],levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-10(IL-10) and interleukin-13(IL-13) in serum, and levels of ICAM-1 and Eotaxin in peripheral blood were evaluated in the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 92.11% in the treatment group and 73.68% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of FVC, FEV1, and FEV1/FVC between the two groups(P>0.05); after treatment, the above lung function indexes in the two groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P< 0.05), and each index in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of IL-10,IL-13 and TNF-α in serum between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment, serum IL-10 levels in the two groups were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and levels of IL-13 and TNF-α in serum were significantly decreased(P< 0.05);IL-10 level in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),and levels of IL-13 and TNF- α were significantly lower(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of ICAM-1 and Eotaxin between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment, the above two levels in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the two indexes in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of Dingchuan tang combined with routine western medicine has a significant curative effect in the treatment of CVA patients, which can effectively improve their lung function, relieve inflammatory responses, and down-regulate levels of ICAM-1 and Eotaxin in peripheral blood.
