Abstract:This paper introduces the experience introduction of Professor SHI Suofang treating cough from the liver and the lung by applying theory of “three yin, three yang and opening, closing and pivot”. The theory of “three yin, three yang and opening, closing and pivot” originated from Huangdi Neijing is not only the expression of the exuberance and debilitation of yin and yang, but also the description of qi transformation in six meridians, reflecting the mode of the ascending, descending, exiting and entering of qi movement. The ascending and descending qi movement in the liver and the lung is an important part to maintain the qi movement of whole body. Under normal conditions, the liver qi ascends and the lung qi descends. If the ascending and descending qi movement of the liver and the lung is unbalanced, it will cause cough. When treating cough,Professor SHI pays attention to the ascending and descending qi movement of the liver and the lung according to the theory of "three yin, three Yang, opening, closing and pivot ",combines with the theory of "the turning good of six- meridian diseases", and grasps the key of "Shaoyang is the pivot and Yangming is the closure", to ascend Shaoyang and descend Yangming and soothe the liver and purify the lung;by doing so,it is hoped to recover the ascending and descending qi movement of the liver and the lung. If the ascending and descending qi movement of the liver and the lung is as usual, the cough will recover naturally.
