Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of oral administration and penetration of Henggu Gushang healing agent for lumbar disc herniation(LDH). Methods：A total of 93 cases of LDH patients were divided into the combination group， the penetration group and the oral administration group according to the random number table method，with 31 cases in each group. The combination group was treated with oral administration and directional penetration of Henggu Gushang healing agent， the penetration group was treated with directional penetration of Henggu Gushang healing agent， and the oral administration group was treated with oral administration of Henggu Gushang healing agent. Treatment was given once every two days，and all groups were treated for four courses，with four times being a course. The clinical effects in the three groups were compared. Before and after treatment， the changes in levels of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) in the three groups were compared. Results：After treatment， the VAS scores in the three groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，differences being significant(P＜0.05)；the VAS score in the combination group was lower than those in the penetration group and the oral administration group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment， the ODI scores in the three groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，differences being significant(P＜0.05)；the ODI score in the combination group was lower than those in the penetration group and the oral administration group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). The total effective rate of clinical effect was 90.32% in the combination group，74.19% in the penetration group and 70.97% in the oral administration group. The total effective rate in the combination group was higher than those in the penetration group and the oral administration group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Oral administration and penetration of Henggu Gushang healing agent for LDH can improve the clinical symptoms， and effective relieve pain and limitation of movement of LDH， with a significant clinical effect.
