Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effects of warming- needle moxibustion combined with Bushen Zhuangjin tang on patients with knee osteoarthritis of liver and kidney insufficiency type. Methods: A total of 82 patients with knee osteoarthritis were selected as the research objects, and divided into the study group and the control group by random number table method, with 41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Bushen Zhuangjin tang, and the study group was additionally treated with warming- needle moxibustion based on the treatment of the control group. The levels of interleukin- 8 (IL- 8), fibroblast growth factor- 2(FGF- 2), transforming growth factor- β(TGF- β), vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and scores of Numerical Rating Scale(NRS), present pain intensity(PPI), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index(WOMAC) before and after treatment and the clinical effects were compared in the two groups. Results:Compared with those before treatment, the levels of IL- 8,VEGF,WOMAC,NRS and PPI in the two groups were decreased after treatment(P<0.05),and the levels of FGF- 2 and TGF- β were increased(P<0.05). Compared with those in the control group after treatment, the levels of IL- 8, VEGF, WOMAC, NRS and PPI were lower in the study group after treatment(P<0.05),and the levels of FGF-2 and TGF-β were higher(P<0.05). The total effective rate was 97.56% in the study group, higher than that of 85.37% in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: warming- needle moxibustion combined with Bushen Zhuangjin tang can inhibit inflammation, reduce the VEGF level, increase FGF- 2 and TGF- β levels, relieve pain, improve knee joint function and clinical effects in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis of liver and kidney insufficiency type.
