Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of modified Buyang Huanwu tang combined with Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture on neurogenic bladder(NB) after spinal cord injury(SCI). Methods:A total of 60 patients with NB after SCI were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given routine treatment in modern medicine, and the observation group was additionally treated with modified Buyang Huanwu tang combined with Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two courses, four weeks being a course. The clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment, the changes of urodynamic indexes and related levels of urinary function were compared between the two groups. During treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups was observed. Results:The total clinical effective rate was 90.00% in the observation group, and was 66.67% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the values of maximum bladder capacity and maximum urinary flow rate in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, and the residual urine volume was decreased, differences being significant(P<0.05);after treatment, the values of maximum bladder capacity and maximum urinary flow rate in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the residual urine volume in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the times of 24-hour urination and urinary incontinence in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the single urination volume was increased, differences being significant(P<0.05);after treatment, the times of 24- hour urination and urinary incontinence in the observation group were less than those in the control group, and the single urination volume was greater than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). During treatment,no serious adverse reactions occurred in both groups. Conclusion: The therapy of modified Buyang Huanwu tang combined with Tongdu Tiaoshen acupuncture for NB after SCI can enhance the clinical effect and improve the urination and urodynamic indexes of patients.
