Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of yin- yang point- penetrating method with awn needle combined with Wenyang Tongluo tang for spastic hemiplegia after stroke and its effect on balance ability. Methods:A total of 110 cases of patients with spastic hemiplegia after stroke were selected as the study subjects, and randomly divided into the control group and the study group, with 55 cases in each group. The control group was given routine treatment combined with Wenyang Tongluo tang, and the study group was additionally treated with yin- yang point- penetrating method with awn needle based on the treatment of the control group. The Chinese medicine syndrome scores, Fugl- Meyer Assessment(FMA) scores,Berg Balance Scale(BBS) scores, neurotransmitters and related indexes of blood circulation before and after treatment and the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate in the study group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of purple and dusky tongue, limb numbness, blood stasis in the collaterals and sensory disturbance, and the levels of glutamate(Glu), homocysteine(Hcy), triglyceride(TG), and angiotensin- II(Ang-II) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P< 0.05),and the above indexes in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of FMA and BBS and the levels of γ- aminobutyric acid(GABA) in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the above indexes in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Yin- yang point- penetrating method with awn needle combined with Wenyang Tongluo tang has a definite curative effect in treating spastic hemiplegia after stroke, and can improve motor function and balance ability, and restore the balance of excitation and inhibition of neurotransmitters.
