Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Bupi Shengji Yifei tang combined with western medicine on senile patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) at stable stage. Methods:A total of 116 senile patients with COPD at stable stage were selected and divided into the control group and the control group according to the random number table method,with 58 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine western medicine treatment,and the observation group was additionally treated with Bupi Shengji Yifei tang based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment, the Chinese medicine syndrome scores, forced vital capacity(FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1), the ratio of forced expiratory volume in one second to forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC) and percentage of forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1%) were compared between the two groups. The incidence of adverse reactions was compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the Chinese medicine syndrome scores of wheezing, cough, expectoration, thoracic diaphragm distension and discomfort and wheezing rales in the two groups were decreased when compared with those in the same group before treatment(P<0.05); after treatment, the above Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of FVC,FEV1,FEV1/FVC and FEV1% in the two groups were increased when compared with those in the same group before treatment(P<0.05);after treatment,the above four levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P> 0.05). Conclusion:Compared with simple western medicine,the therapy of western medicine combined with Bupi Shengji Yifei tang can accelerate the remission of clinical symptoms in senile patients with COPD at stable stage and improve the lung function,with high safety.
