Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Huahong tablets combined with ibuprofen on patients with primary dysmenorrhea of damp- heat stasis obstruction type. Methods：A total of 72 patients with primary dysmenorrhea of damp-heat stasis obstruction type were selected and divided into the control group and the treatment group according to random number table method，with 36 cases in each group. The control group was treated with ibuprofen sustained-release capsules，and the treatment group was additionally given Huahong tablets based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three consecutive menstrual cycles. The menstrual duration，menstrual volume，score of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)， score of dysmenorrhea symptoms and overall clinical effect were compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 94.44% in the treatment group and 72.22% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the menstrual duration and menstrual volume in both groups were increased significantly when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the improvement of menstrual duration and menstrual volume in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the VAS scores and scores of dysmenorrhea symptoms in both groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜ 0.05)， and both scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Huahong tablets combined with ibuprofen has a significant effect on patients with primary dysmenorrhea of damp- heat stasis obstruction type， which can effectively improve menstruation，relieve pain and other related symptoms.
