Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Fuming capsules combined with polyethylene glycol eye drops on dry eye after cataract surgery. Methods：Eighty patients with dry eye after cataract surgery were selected and divided into the control group and the study group according to the random number table method， with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with polyethylene glycol eye drops，and the study group was additionally treated with Fuming capsules based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two months. The clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated. The dry eye symptoms score，tear film break- up time(BUT)，corneal fluorescent staining(FL) score， tear secretion length and tear inflammatory factor level were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results：The total effective rate was 97.50% in the study group， higher than that of 82.50% in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of dry sensation， burning sensation，foreign body sensation and the total score of dry eye symptoms in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，BUT and tear secretion length in both groups were prolonged when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the FL score were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)； BUT and tear secretion length in the study group were longer than those in the control group(P＜0.05)，and the FL score was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interleukin- 1β(IL- 1β) in tears of the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜ 0.05)，and the levels of TNF-α and IL-1β in tears of the study group were lower than those of the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Fuming capsules combined with polyethylene glycol eye drops for dry eye after cataract surgery can effectively improve the symptoms of dry eye and promote the secretion of tears，whose curative effect is better than that of polyethylene glycol eye drops alone.
