Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of the therapy of glucocorticoid combined with Guomin Jian on inflammatory responses and levels of exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO) in patients with asthma. Methods: A total of 92 cases of patients with asthma were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method,with 46 cases in each group. The control group was treated with glucocorticoid, and the observation group was additionally treated with Guomin Jian based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were continuously treated for two weeks. The clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment,the lung function indexes,including forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1), forced vital capacity(FVC) and peak expiratory flow(PEF), serum factors,including the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8 (IL- 8) and high- sensitivity C- reactive protein(hs- CRP), and FeNO were compared between the two groups. Pearson was used to analyze the correlation between FeNO levels and inflammatory indexes. Results: The total clinical effective rate was 95.65% in the observation group and 80.43% in the control group,the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of FEV1,FVC and PEF in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the above three levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8 and hs-CRP in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the above four levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the FeNO levels in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the FeNO level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that there were correlations between the FeNO level and TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8 and hs-CRP,with the strongest between FeNO and IL-6 (r=0.663) and the lowest between FeNO and hs-CRP(r=0.312). Conclusion:The therapy of glucocorticoid combined with Guomin Jian has a definite curative effect on asthma, which can enhance the lung function,improve the inflammatory responses,and reduce the FeNO level.
