Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of the therapy of auricular point sticking combined with motor imagery therapy on patients with stroke at convalescent phase. Methods:A total of 60 patients with stroke at convalescent phase were divided into the control group and the study group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with conventional treatment and nursing measures as well as rehabilitation exercise, and the study group was additionally treated with auricular point sticking combined with motor imagery therapy. Both groups were treated for four weeks continuosly. The scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome, Stroke- Specific Quality of Life(SS-QOL) and Modified Barthel Index(MBI) were evaluated before treatment and four weeks after treatment, and the clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results:After four weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of clinical effect in the study group was 93.3% , higher than that of 73.3% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). The scores of MBI and SS- QOL in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment, and the TCM syndrome scores were decreased, differences being significant(P<0.05). The scores of MBI and SS- QOL in the study group were higher and the TCM syndrome score was lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The additional application of auricular point sticking combined with motor imagery therapy based on conventional therapy has a definite effect on improving clinical symptoms, quality of life and self-care ability of stroke patients at convalescent phase.
