Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of memantine hydrochloride combined with compound Haishe Capsules on Alzheimer disease. Methods： A total of 90 patients with Alzheimer disease were selected and divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method， with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with memantine hydrochloride，and the treatment group was treated with memantine hydrochloride combined with compound Haishe Capsules. Both groups were treated for three months. The clinical effects，scores of Mini- Mental State Examination(MMSE) and levels of inflammatory factors， including tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α)， interleukin- 6(IL- 6) and interleukin- 8(IL- 8)， and indexes of nerve injury， including serum S-100 calcium-binding protein B(S-100B)，neuron-specific enolase(NSE) and myelin basic protein (MBP)，were observed and compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 95.56% in the treatment group and 73.33% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of serum inflammatory factors，including IL-6，IL-8 and TNF- α， in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the above three levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of attention and calculation capacities， orientation， memory， language skills， visuospatial abilities and executive function in the MMSE scale in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of indexes of nerve injury，including S- 100B， NSE and MBP were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the above three levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of memantine hydrochloride combined with compound Haishe Capsules has a good curative effect on Alzheimer disease， which can reduce the levels of inflammatory factors and indexes of nerve injury and improve the intelligence and dementia behaviors of patients.
