Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of Chinese medicine fumigation in relieving pain in patients after percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF). Methods: A total of 88 cases of patients with pain after PKP for OVCF were randomly divided into the control group and the fumigation group. Both groups were treated with intravenous drip with Zoledronic Acid Sodium Injection after PKP;the control group was given the oral administration of Celecoxib Capsules, and the fumigation group was treated with fumigation with the prescription Ⅱof Orthopedics Department. Both groups were treated for one to two weeks. After discharge, both groups regularly took Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3 Tablets and Alfacalcidol Soft Capsules. The Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) scores of pain before and after the surgery and the simple functional scores after the surgery were compared between the two groups. Results:The VAS scores of pain at one day,one week, one month, and two months after the surgery respectively in both groups were lower than those before the surgery, differences being significant(P< 0.01). The VAS scores of pain in the fumigation group were lower than those in the control group at one week and one month after the surgery, differences being significant(P<0.01). The simple function scores in the fumigation group at one week, one month and two months after the surgery were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion: Fumigation with the prescriptionⅡof Orthopedics Department based on routine therapy can effectively relieve the early local pain of OVCF patients after PVP,and improve their activity ability.
