Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture therapy combined with warming- needle moxibustion for cerebral apoplexy complicated with shoulder- hand syndrome. Methods: A total of 118 cases of patients with cerebral apoplexy complicated with shoulder- hand syndrome were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 59 cases in each group. The control group was given routine rehabilitation treatment. The treatment group was additionally treated with warming- needle moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three courses, with 10 days being a course. The scores of Simplified Fugl-Meyer Motor Function Assessment Scale(FMA),Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Quality of Life Scale (QOL) before and after treatment as well as the clinical effects and clinical symptom scores in the two groups were compared. Results:The total effective rate was 93.2% in the observation group and 76.2% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of symptoms including stiffness, swelling and activity limitation between the two groups(P>0.05); after treatment, the above symptom scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of FMA,VAS and QOL between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of FMA and VAS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the QOL scores were increased(P<0.05); the improvement of the above scores in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Electroacupuncture therapy combined with warming- needle moxibustion for patients with cerebral apoplexy complicated with shoulder- hand syndrome can significantly enhance the clinical effect, effectively improve the clinical symptoms, and promote the rehabilitation of the affected limbs.
