Abstract： This paper introduces the clinical experience of Professor ZHANG Hong in treating bronchiectasis. Professor ZHANG Hong believes that the pathogenesis of bronchiectasis mostly belongs to the deficiency of the root and the excess of the tip，and the pathogen of phlegm- heat runs through the whole course of bronchiectasis. In the acute attack stage， the pathogenesis is mainly phlegm- heat obstruction the lung，while in the protracted stage，the pathogenesis changes to phlegm-heat damaging yin and healthy qi depletion. In the treatment， it is advisable to combine Chinese medicine and western medicine and carry out staging treatment. In the acute stage， it is necessary to clear heat， eliminate phlegm and diffuse the lung，and in the protracted stage，it is necessary to nourish yin，which includes four aspects，namely boosting qi and nourishing yin，banking up earth to generate metal，the stimulative supplement of the lung and kidney， and dissolving stasis and unblocking the collaterals. In short， the pathogenesis is mainly phlegm-heat，followed by yin deficiency；on the principle of treatment，we should focus on clearing and give consideration to supplementing and boosting. Combine Chinese medicine with western medicine and carry out staging treatment.
