Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Xiao'er Xiaoshi Granules combined with Bifidobacterium Quadruple Viable Tablets for anorexia in children and its effects on gastrointestinal hormones. Methods:A total of 268 cases of children with anorexia were divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method, with 134 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Bifidobacterium Quadruple Viable Tablets, and the treatment group was additionally treated with Xiao'er Xiaoshi Granules based on the treatment of the control group. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome scores and levels of gastrointestinal hormones before and after treatment, as well as clinical effects, were compared between the two groups. The disease recurrence rates and the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were compared. Results:The total effective rate was 94.03% in the treatment group, higher than that of 85.82% in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment,TCM syndrome scores and neurotensin(NT) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),gastrin(GAS),motilin(MLT),and tyrosine neuropeptide(NPY) were increased(P<0.05); the improvement of TCM syndrome scores and gastrointestinal hormone indexes in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05). There was no adverse reaction in the two groups. The disease recurrence rates within six months and one year in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of Xiao'er Xiaoshi Granules combined with Bifidobacterium Quadruple Viable Tablets has a defined curative effect in treating anorexia in children, and can effectively regulate gastrointestinal hormone secretion of patients, and reduce disease recurrence, with high safety.
