Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of warming- needle moxibustion combined with Femoston in patients with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) of kidney essence depletion type. Methods:A total of 60 cases of POI patients of kidney essence depletion type were selected and randomly divided into the warming-needle moxibustion group and the routine group, with 30 cases in each group. The routine group was given oral administration of Femoston, and the warming-needle moxibustion group was additionally treated with warming- needle moxibustion based on the treatment of the routine group. The clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH),luteinizing hormone (LH) and estrogen (E2),and ovarian reserve function were compared between the two groups. Results: The total clinical effective rate was 96.67% in the warming- needle moxibustion group, higher than that of 80.00% in the routine group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of TCM syndrome scores including irregular menstruation, insomnia, tidal fever and night sweat, dizziness and tinnitus, and soreness and weakness of waist and knees between the two groups (P>0.05);after treatment, the above TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05), and the scores in the warming- needle moxibustion group were lower than those in the routine group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of FSH, LH and E2 between the two groups (P>0.05); after treatment, levels of FSH and LH in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05), and E2 levels were increased (P<0.05); levels of FSH and LH in the warming- needle moxibustion group were lower than those in the routine group (P<0.05),and E2 level was higher than that in the routine group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of number of basal antral follicles, follicular maturation time and ovarian volume between the two groups (P>0.05); after treatment, the number of basal antral follicles in the warming-needle moxibustion group was significantly increased (P<0.05), and the number was bigger than that in the routine group (P<0.05). During treatment, there were no adverse drug reactions, and fainting spell during acupuncture treatment, needle breakage, hematoma, scald and other adverse events in the two groups. Conclusion:Warming- needle moxibustion combined with Femoston for POI patients of kidney essence depletion type can effectively relieve their clinical symptoms, and improve the levels of FSH,LH and E2 in serum and the ovarian reserve function, with a significant clinical effect and high safety.
