Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of Yishen Jiegu Decoction combined with Calcium Carbonate-Vitamin D3 Tablets on postoperative joint function，bone density，and fracture healing speed in senile patients with traumatic extremities fractures. Methods： A total of 60 cases of senile patients with traumatic extremities fractures were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 30 cases in each group. Both groups were given internal fixation with plate and screw. After the surgery，both groups were treated with Cefalexin Tablets for 3 days，the control group was additionally treated with oral administration of Calcium Carbonate-Vitamin D3 Tablets，and the observation group was additionally treated with Yishen Jiegu Decoction. The treatment in the two groups lasted for 1 month， and the follow- up lasted for 6 months. Clinical effects， joint function， bone density， and fracture healing speed were compared between the two groups. Results： After 1 month of treatment，the total effective rate of clinical effect was 93.33% in the observation group， higher than that of 73.33% in the control group (P＜0.05). After the 6- month follow- up， Mayo Elbow Performance scores and the knee joint scores in Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in the two groups were increased when compared with those before operation (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). The Excellent rate of joint function was 86.67% in the observation group，higher than that of 63.33% in the control group (P＜0.05). Bone density in the two groups were increased when compared with those before operation (P＜0.05)，and the bone density in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The fracture healing time in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Yishen Jiegu Decoction combined with Calcium Carbonate- Vitamin D3 Tablets for senile patients after surgery for traumatic extremities fractures can promote the recovery of joint function， and improve their bone density and fracture healing speed.
