Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of auricular point sticking combined with respiratory function training based on the routine disease management for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at stable stage. Methods:A total of 84 cases of COPD patients at stable stage were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the auricular point sticking group, with 42 cases in each group. Both groups were given routine disease management, the control group received respiratory function training, and the auricular point sticking group was additionally intervened with auricular point sticking based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. Before and after treatment, the scores of cough, the lung function indexes including 6-minute walking test (6MWT),the percentage of the forced expiratory volume in 1 second value of the predicted value (FEV1% pred), and the ratio of forced expiratory volume in 1 second to forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC), and the scores of St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the scores of daytime and nighttime cough in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above scores in the auricular point sticking group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the 6MWT values in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the 6MWT values in the auricular point sticking group was larger than that in the control group (P<0.05);the FEV1%pred and FEV1/FVC in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the FEV1%pred and FEV1/FVC in the auricular point sticking group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the SGRQ scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P< 0.05),and the SGRQ score in the auricular point sticking group was lower than that in the control group (P< 0.05). Conclusion:Auricular point sticking combined with respiratory function training based on the routine disease management can effectively relieve cough symptoms in patients with COPD at stable stage, and improve their lung function and quality of life.
