Abstract:The idea of “upbearing and promoting effects of wind medicinals” was firstly recorded in Origins of Medicine (Yixue Qiyuan·Yongyao Beizhi·Yaolei Faxiang) and it is closely related to the nature of wind medicinals. In this study,it is pointed out that the pathogenesis of dysmenorrhea is characterized by “when there is stagnation, there is pain” and the stagnation of liver qi is the pathogenic basis after combing and analyzing the definition and academic origins of the idea of “upbearing and promoting features of wind”,as well as the relationship between the etiologies and pathogenesis of dysmenorrhea and this idea. In addition,it is believed that we should observe and distinguish the pathogenesis in the treatment of dysmenorrhea and the medication should give priorities to soothing the liver and regulating qi under the guidance of the idea of “upbearing and promoting features of wind” so that the ascending and descending of qi movement are recovered, and the blood flow regains its order, and finally the dysmenorrhea can be cured.
