Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Huatan Quyu Decoction combined with western medicine for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) of phlegm stasis obstructing the collaterals type and its effect on parameters of thrombelastogram. Methods：A total of 60 cases of AIS patients of phlegm stasis obstructing the collaterals type were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine， and the observation group was additionally treated with Huatan Quyu Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment， traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores， scores of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)，and parameters of thrombelastogram including reaction time (R)，clot formation time (K) and maximum clot amplitude (MA) were compared between the two groups. The clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions were evaluated in the two groups. Results：The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， TCM syndrome scores， NIHSS scores and MA values in thrombelastogram in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，the values of R and K in thrombelastogram were significantly increased(P＜0.05)，the TCM syndrome scores，NIHSS scores and MA values in thrombelastogram in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the values of R and K in thrombelastogram were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion： Huatan Quyu Decoction combined with western medicine for AIS of phlegm stasis obstructing the collaterals type can effectively improve coagulation status in the body with significant clinical effects.
