Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Changyanning Granules combined with Montmorillonite Powder on acute gastroenteritis with damp- heat syndrome in children and its effects on the levels of serum procalcitonin (PCT) and white blood cell count (WBC). Methods:A total of 86 children with acute gastroenteritis with damp-heat syndrome were selected and divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the simple randomization method, with 43 cases in each group. Both groups were given symptomatic treatments such as physical or medicine cooling,oral rethydration salt and antibiotics. The control group was additionally treated with Montmorillonite Powder, and the treatment group were additionally treated with Changyanning Granules. Both groups were treated for 3 days. The clinical effects,incidence of adverse reactions,as well as the defecation times,scores of stool traits and levels of serum PCT and WBC were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results:After treatment,the total clinical effective rate was 100% in the treatment group,higher than that of 88.37% in the control group (P<0.05). The defecation times in both groups were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the scores of stool traits was decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the defecation time in the treatment was less than that in the control group (P<0.05),and the score of stool traits was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of PCT and WBC in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above 2 levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P< 0.05). During treatment,the incidence of adverse reactions was 4.65% in the treatment group and 2.33% in the control group, there being no significance in the difference (P>0.05). Conclusion: Changyanning Granules combined with Montmorillonite Powder has a significant curative effect on acute gastroenteritis with damp- heat syndrome in children, which can improve the clinical symptoms and mitigate the inflammatory responses,with good safety.
