Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of point application with Chinese herbal medicine combined with auricular point sticking therapy for acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) with turbid phlegm obstructing the lung syndrome. Methods： A total of 84 cases of AECOPD patients with turbid phlegm obstructing the lung syndrome were selected and divided into the control group and the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) intervention group according to the random number table method，with 42 cases in each group. The control group was given symptomatic treatment of western medicine and routine nursing，and the TCM intervention group was additionally treated with point application with Chinese herbal medicine combined with auricular point sticking therapy based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 1 week. The symptom scores of respiratory tract and COPD Assessment Test (CAT) scores before and after treatment， and the clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results：After treatment，the total effective rate of clinical effect was 95.24% in the TCM intervention group， higher than that of 80.95% in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of cough， expectoration and panting in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the scores of cough，expectoration and panting in the TCM intervention group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， CAT scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the CAT score in the TCM intervention group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The difference value of CAT scores was higher than that in the control group before and after treatment (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Point application with Chinese herbal medicine combined with auricular point sticking therapy has a good clinical effect in treating AECOPD with turbid phlegm obstructing the lung syndrome，which can effectively relieve the respiratory tract symptoms of patients and improve their quality of life.
