Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Bushen Qishu Qiangxin Granules combined with western medicine for chronic heart failure (CHF) and its effect on heart function. Methods ： A total of 90 cases of CHF patients were divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method，with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine，and the treatment group was additionally treated with Bushen Qishu Qiangxin Granules based on the treatment of the control group. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores， heart function indexes， and serum inflammatory factors levels were compared before and after treatment between the two groups；the clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were evaluated. Results：The total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，TCM syndrome scores，and the levels of left ventricular end-diastolic volume (LVEDV)， left ventricular end-systolic volume (LVESV)，interleukin-6 (IL-6)，tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)，and hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the levels of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were increased (P＜ 0.05). After treatment，TCM syndrome scores，and the levels of LVEDV，LVESV，IL-6，TNF-α，and hs- CRP in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the LVEF level in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 6.67% in the treatment group， lower than that of 22.22% in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion： Bushen Qishu Qiangxin Granules combined with western medicine for CHF can effectively reduce the inflammatory responses of patients and improve heart function， with a significant clinical effect and high safety.
